Dr. Zhenyu Cai is an EPSRC Quantum Technologies Fellow and Principal Investigator in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. He previously held a Junior Research Fellowship in Physics at St John’s College (2020–2024). His research focuses on quantum error correction, error mitigation, and their hardware-adapted implementation for scalable quantum computing. He leads a £2.2M EPSRC Fellowship (with £500k industrial support) and contributes to £1.3M+ in additional grants. He is a lead inventor on four patents and actively collaborates with industry partners.
Education: DPhil in Materials (Lincoln College, Oxford, 2017–2020), MSci & BA in Physics (Trinity College, Cambridge, 2013–2017). Teaching roles include Lecturer for 'Magnetic Properties of Materials' and Guest Lecturer for 'Introduction to Quantum Information' at Oxford's Mathematical Institute.
