Zhenghe J Wang

Zhenghe J Wang is Chair and Professor in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine. He holds the Dale H. Cowan M.D. – Ruth Goodman Blum Professorship of Cancer Research and co-leads the Cancer Genomics and Epigenomics Program at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. He joined the university in 2005 after completing his Ph.D. in Microbiology (University of Virginia, 2001) and postdoctoral training with Dr. Bert Vogelstein at Johns Hopkins University.

His research focuses on colorectal cancer mechanisms, particularly PIK3CA mutations and glutamine metabolism-driven tumorigenesis. He leads translational efforts to develop targeted therapies, including clinical trials for PIK3CA mutant cancers. His work has been funded by major grants, including the SU2C Colorectal Cancer Dream Team Award (2017) and NCI grants. Dr. Wang also investigates pseudo-kinases/phosphatases in cancer, such as PTPRT's tumor suppressor role via tyrosine denitration.

Publications span over two decades, with recent work emphasizing therapeutic strategies, CRISPR-based screening, and immune checkpoint regulation. His research bridges basic science and clinical applications, aiming to improve cancer treatment outcomes.
