Zheng Jane Fan

Zheng Jane Fan is a Professor of Neurology at the UNC School of Medicine and holds multiple leadership roles, including Co-Division Chief for Precision Medicine and Neurogenetics, Medical Director for the Sleep Laboratory, and Director of the DRPLA Center of Excellence. She practices at UNC Hospitals Neurology Clinic and UNC Hospitals Children's Neurology Clinic in Chapel Hill, NC.

Research Interests: Dr. Fan focuses on pediatric sleep disorders and neurogenetic disorders such as Angelman syndrome, Down syndrome, and spinal muscular atrophy, with a particular emphasis on gene therapy and sleep/EEG characteristics in these populations. Her work includes developing tools for sleep data analysis, studying biomarkers in neurogenetic conditions, and advancing newborn screening for rare diseases.

Clinical Roles: She specializes in treating children with neurogenetic disorders and neuromuscular diseases, bridging clinical and basic science research. Her affiliations include the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, the Department of Pediatrics, and UNC Health institutions.
