معرفی
Dr. Zhenbo Qin is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Missouri, affiliated with the College of Arts and Science and the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on Algebraic Geometry, particularly moduli spaces, gauge theory, and string theory applications. He has held prestigious roles including the Leonard M. Blumenthal Distinguished Professor (2007-2012) and has received awards like the Sloan Research Fellowship and Chancellor’s Award.
Education: Ph.D. (1990), M.Phil. (1989), M.S. (1987) in Mathematics from Columbia University; B.S. (1985) in Mathematics from Wuhan University, China; Diploma in English (1986) from Beijing Foreign Languages Institute.
Research interests include moduli spaces of sheaves, stable maps, and their applications to Donaldson theory, Gromov-Witten theory, and Donaldson-Thomas theory. Notable contributions include solving F. Hirzebruch’s 1954 question, proving the smooth invariance of Kodaira dimension of complex surfaces with R. Friedman, and verifying the S-duality conjecture with W.-P. Li.
His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, NSA, and Simons Foundation. Awards include the Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (1994-1995) and the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship (1997-2001).
Teaching responsibilities include advanced courses like Algebraic Geometry (MATH 8615) and Differential Equations (MATH 4100). His research spans complex surfaces, Hilbert schemes, and vertex algebra connections to cohomology structures.
