Dr. Zhen-Ming Pei is an Associate Professor of Biology at Duke University, researching plant environmental sensing mechanisms, calcium signaling pathways, and osmotic stress responses. His lab identified key osmosensors (OSCA1) and ion channels regulating stress adaptation.
Recent work explores plasmonic nanosensors for in vivo plant monitoring and calcium dynamics in drought/stress resilience. He teaches courses in Cell Signaling and Sensory Transduction, and maintains active NSF/DOE funding for plant osmosensor projects.
