Zhe Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University, specializing in the Developmental Sciences Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological and Developmental Psychology (Virginia Tech, 2013), an M.S. in Statistics (Virginia Tech, 2016), and a B.S. in Applied Psychology (Nankai University, 2008). Her research focuses on understanding cognitive, emotional, and contextual factors influencing math learning and achievement, particularly in elementary and middle school students. She employs neurocognitive assessments, psychophysiological measures, and longitudinal studies to explore biosocial mechanisms underlying academic outcomes.
Key research areas include math anxiety trajectories, the interplay between emotions and cognition in problem-solving, and the role of classroom environments in student engagement. Notable contributions include work on the mediating roles of attention, parental involvement, and mental toughness in academic success. Wang’s lab, the Biosocial Interplay in Development Lab, investigates these topics using advanced statistical modeling and experimental methods.
Her work has been published in journals like Journal of Educational Psychology and Contemporary Educational Psychology. She teaches courses such as Issues in Child and Adolescent Development and Motivation and Learning. Current research emphasizes translating findings into educational practices to improve academic outcomes for at-risk students.
