Zhe-Sheng Chen

Dr. Zhe-Sheng (Jason) Chen is a Professor at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, St. John’s University, where he has been since 2004. His research focuses on overcoming multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancer through ABC transporter inhibition and developing novel chemotherapeutic strategies. He leads a laboratory funded by NIH and industry partners, specializing in in vitro and in vivo tumor models. Dr. Chen holds advanced degrees from Kagoshima University (PhD, Japan), Sun Yat-Sen University (Master’s), and Guangdong Medical and Pharmaceutical College (MD).

His research interests include ABC transporters, drug delivery systems, and nanotechnology-based therapies. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and 5 book chapters, and serves as an editor-in-chief for journals like Journal of Cancer Research Updates. Dr. Chen is also an ad hoc reviewer for NIH grants and international funding bodies, and frequently consults for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

His teaching includes courses such as PHR 5108 Drugs/Neoplastic/Associated Diseases and PHS 3509 Introduction to Pharmacology. He actively contributes to academic leadership, including roles as conference chairman and keynote speaker.
