Guan Chen

Guan Chen, MD, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His research focuses on cancer signaling pathways, particularly the role of p38γ MAPK in oncogenesis and targeted therapy. He holds a MD from Bengbu Medical College (1982), an MS from Sun Yat-Sen University (1985), and a PhD from the University of Heidelberg, Germany (1990).

Dr. Chen's work investigates p38γ's role in colon, breast, and pancreatic cancers, including its interaction with PTPH1 and its effects on EGFR and cancer stem cells. His lab explores therapeutic inhibition using pirfenidone and examines metabolic reprogramming in cancer. Ongoing projects include pancreatic cancer studies in KPC mouse models and the role of p38γ in aerobic glycolysis.

Publications highlight mechanisms of oncogenesis, drug resistance, and signaling networks. His research bridges basic science and translational oncology, aiming to develop novel cancer therapies.
