Dr. Zeth Everick Collom serves as Department Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU), where he joined in summer 2017. A certified and licensed speech-language pathologist, he provides clinical services through the WT Speech and Hearing Clinic and holds specialized certifications in voice therapy techniques.
His educational background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in English from Angelo State University
- Master of Science in Communication Disorders from WTAMU
- Doctorate in Rehabilitation Science
Dr. Collom's research centers on vocal fatigue phenomena and enhancement of voice-related patient-reported outcome measures, with additional focus on how educational methodologies in speech-language pathology training impact student and patient outcomes. Clinically, he specializes in voice disorders, possessing advanced training in videostroboscopy and Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy™, and is one of only 11 certified PhoRTE™ providers in Texas for aging voice treatment.
He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in voice and acquired communication disorders, provides clinical instruction to graduate students, and holds ACUE/ACE certification as an Effective Online College Instructor. Dr. Collom actively serves on university and Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association committees while judging regional events for UIL, 4H, and FCCLA.
