Darla Marcear serves as Clinical Coordinator and Lecturer in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences within West Texas A&M University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She joined the department in fall 2019 with over 30 years of clinical experience as a speech-language pathologist across hospital and public school settings.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Abilene Christian University
- Master’s Degree from California State University, Chico
Her research and professional interests center on speech sound disorders, clinical assessment methodologies, and clinical education frameworks. She teaches courses in clinical observation, assessment, clinical practicum, and speech sound disorders while supervising graduate students at the WTAMU Speech & Hearing Clinic.
Professional recognition includes:
- Honors of the Association by the Panhandle Speech-Language and Hearing Association
As Clinical Coordinator, she manages partnerships with affiliate facilities to ensure graduate students meet clinical practicum requirements. She actively contributes to the Texas Speech-Language and Hearing Association (TSHA) through committee service, authorship in The Communicologist publication, and state convention presentations. Her work is grounded in ASHA certification and Texas licensure.
She maintains operational leadership of the WTAMU Speech & Hearing Clinic, overseeing clinical training environments and student competency development.
