Zeina Schlenoff

Zeina Schlenoff is a Teaching Professor of Arabic at Florida State University's Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics within the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, specializing in 20th century French and Francophone Literature, with a focus on Arab women writers. She serves as Director of the Middle East Center, founding director of the FSU Arabic Language House, and coordinator/adviser for Arabic programs.
Her research explores Middle Eastern women writers, social media in the Arab world, women in Islam, Arab cinema, and Middle Eastern cultures. She teaches courses including Arabic language levels, media Arabic, Levantine Arabic, and modern Middle East cinema.
Dr. Schlenoff has received University Teaching Awards in 2005 and 2011. She administers programs funded by grants from the US Department of Education (Title VI A) and Saudi Aramco Services. Her office is located in Diffenbaugh 342, with weekly hours on Wednesdays 11:30-12:30.
