Zeido Zeido

Dr. Zeido Zeido serves as an Associate Member of the Chair at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, working within the Architectural Conservation department. His office is located in Building 2B, Room 0.14 at Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 4 in Cottbus.

Dr. Zeido specializes in architectural heritage with a focus on post-war reconstruction, particularly in conflict zones. His research centers on Syrian architecture, with extensive work on Aleppo's architectural styles both inside and outside the UNESCO-designated Old City. He has conducted thorough studies of the city's pre-war and wartime urban problems, incorporating spatial, historical, and social aspects of different Aleppine architectural styles. His work uniquely integrates Arabic-language sources and local knowledge from Aleppo residents.

Dr. Zeido successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in November 2019 titled 'Reclaiming the Architectural Heritage of Aleppo after the Syrian War' under the supervision of Prof. em. Dr. Leo Schmidt. His research contributes to the DFG Research Training Group 1913 'Cultural and Technological Significance of Historic Buildings'.

As an associated doctoral student at the DFG Research Training Group 1913, Dr. Zeido has focused on creating vital resources for reconstruction efforts in postwar Syria. His work examines Aleppo as a whole, with particular attention to areas often neglected by researchers that lie outside the UNESCO-drawn borders of the Old City from 1986.

Dr. Zeido's research methodology incorporates diverse approaches, compiling information and opinions from national and international researchers as well as Aleppines to appropriately address the complexity and sensitivity of Aleppo's post-war urban issues.
