Zeev Vardeny

Zeev Vardeny is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Utah, with an adjunct appointment in Materials Science & Engineering. His research focuses on the optical, electronic, and spin properties of organic and hybrid organic-inorganic semiconductors, particularly perovskites, with significant contributions to understanding chirality-induced spin selectivity and quantum phenomena in these materials.

Professor Vardeny's research spans condensed matter physics, materials science, and quantum physics, with particular emphasis on how structural asymmetry in hybrid perovskites can be engineered to control spin without magnetic components. His work combines experimental techniques including magneto-optical spectroscopy, quantum beat measurements, and chirality analysis to uncover fundamental properties that could enable next-generation spintronic and quantum computing devices.

His recent publications reveal a strong focus on dimensionality control in perovskites, with studies demonstrating how ribbon width variations affect quantum confinement and optoelectronic properties. The research shows particular promise for fine-tuning materials for specific applications through chiral cation engineering and structural manipulation.
