معرفی
Zbigniew Lazar is a Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Food Microbiology at the University of Wrocław's Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science. He specializes in yeast-based biotechnology, particularly focusing on Yarrowia lipolytica and metabolic engineering for high-value product synthesis. His research emphasizes sustainable utilization of industrial wastes (e.g., glycerol, molasses) for producing lipids, biofuels, and specialty chemicals.
Educated with a Doctorate in Biotechnology (2011), Lazar has led over 43 promoted theses and holds 7 patents. His work integrates systems biology, genetic engineering, and process optimization. Key achievements include developing engineered yeast strains for erythritol, citric acid, and itaconic acid production. He leads the Biotechnology for Life and Industry (BioTech@Life) team, fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations in bioremediation and industrial microbiology.
Lazar's research spans metabolic pathway engineering, microbial strain design, and waste-to-biochemical conversion. His articles highlight advancements in lipid, amino acid, and antimicrobial peptide synthesis using renewable substrates. With a h-index of 21 (Scopus) and 72 publications, his work has significant impact in bioprocess engineering and sustainable bioindustry.
