Zameel Cader is a Professor of Neuroscience and Neurology at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. As Director of the Oxford Headache Centre and former Director of StemBANCC, he combines clinical expertise with cutting-edge research in neurogenetic disorders.
- Lead investigator for IM2PACT, a large EU-funded initiative exploring brain neurovascular unit mechanisms
- Developer of innovative iPSC-based drug discovery platforms
- Consultant Neurologist at John Radcliffe Hospital specializing in headache disorders
His research focuses on translating human genetic data into mechanistic insights through induced pluripotent stem cell models, targeting pain/migraine, Alzheimer's disease, and autism/epilepsy. Current work investigates blood-brain barrier transport mechanisms and mitochondrial aging signatures.
Scientific Recognition:
- MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship
- Leadership roles in EU-funded consortia (StemBANCC, IM2PACT)
His clinical contributions include establishing the Oxford Community Headache Service and integrating translational research with patient care. Funding from EU FP7, Wellcome Trust, and NIHR BRC supports his multidisciplinary approach.
