Zaki Haidar

Zaki Haidar is a Senior Lecturer in Arabic within the Middle Eastern Languages department at Carleton College, where he has taught since 2013. He specializes in modern Arabic literature, Arab intellectual history, and the intersection of politics, culture, and narrative studies in the Arab world.

• Intensive Arabic studies at CASA, American University of Cairo

Research Focus: His work examines narrative representations of Mount Lebanon in 20th-century literature and includes Arabic-to-English literary translation. He teaches both formal and colloquial Arabic alongside thematic courses on modern Arabic literary traditions.
