Zafir Ameen is a Sessional Lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Ravensbourne University London. His work bridges architectural design, education, and activism. He co-founded Defrente Studio, a non-profit practice focusing on architecture and social justice, and manages outreach programs at Open City for disadvantaged youth. He holds a BA (Hons) and MArch.
He serves as an Expert Reference for the Architects Registration Board (ARB), advising on Professional Practical Experience (PPE) reforms, and is a Student Representative on RIBA's National Council, advocating for young professionals' rights. Previously, he worked at Hawkins/Brown, dRMM, and managed events at the London School of Architecture (LSA).
His research interests emphasize empowering marginalized communities through design, education, and institutional reform. He actively engages in architectural policy and youth advocacy across multiple platforms.
