Zafer Akman, MD is a Research Fellow at the Yale School of Medicine (Yale SOM), affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine and the Cantley Lab. He completed his MD at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa in 2022. His research focuses on extracellular matrix regulators in kidney diseases, particularly the role of metalloproteinases in polycystic kidney disease. He also contributes to cardiovascular research, studying antiplatelet therapies, cardiomyopathy treatments, and cardiac toxicity. Additional interests include sarcopenia in kidney transplant recipients and inflammatory mechanisms in autoimmune disorders.
