Zack Kohrman is a Lecturer in the School of Industrial and Graphic Design at Auburn University, part of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. He teaches academic studios and lecture courses, focusing on industrial design education. Kohrman earned both his Bachelor of Industrial Design (2014) and Master of Industrial Design (2017) from Auburn University, where he also served as a graduate teaching assistant and managed the SIGD shop.
His research emphasizes human biomechanics, ergonomics, and rapid prototyping, with a focus on wearable adaptive devices, backpacks, load-bearing equipment, and tactical gear. He has collaborated on projects with organizations such as the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Alabama Contemporary Art Center, and the University of Southern Mississippi, developing solutions like outdoor classroom designs, signage systems, and personal flotation devices (PFDs). Recently, he and his father co-developed a patent-pending respirator design that prioritizes autoclave cleaning compatibility and modular functionality.
Kohrman also runs Warbird Illustration, an aviation-themed art business creating historically accurate aircraft renderings using CAD modeling and archival research. His work bridges technical design and artistic expression, often reconstructing aircraft for clients with personal or familial connections to the aircraft's history.
