Zachary Stangebye is the Quinn and Jean Stepan Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on macroeconomic and international finance, particularly sovereign debt markets and coordination failures. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (2015), an M.A. from the same institution (2012), and a B.S. from the University of Michigan (2010).
His research interests span macroeconomics, international finance, and the role of belief formation in market outcomes. Notable themes include sovereign debt crises, information asymmetry, and the interplay between networks and financial markets. Recent work explores geometric methods for modeling rational inattention and the dynamics of costly information in debt markets.
