Zachary Manditch-Prottas

Zachary Manditch-Prottas is a Lecturer jointly appointed in African and African American Studies and American Culture Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He earned his Ph.D. in African American Studies from UC Berkeley.

His research examines 20th-century African American literature through lenses of masculinity, diaspora, and cultural production, with special attention to Black pulp fiction and hip-hop's global impact. Current projects analyze intersections of gender identity and racial representation in popular media.

Publications appear in African American Review, Callaloo, The Black Scholar, and MELUS, with contributions to anthologies including 'James Baldwin in Context'.
