Zachary Greene is a Reader (Associate Professor) in the Department of Government and Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He joined the faculty in 2015 as a Chancellor's Fellow, following post-doctoral research at the University of Mannheim's SFB 884 'Political Economy of Reforms' (2012–2015). He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Iowa (2012).
His research focuses on intra-party politics, electoral strategies, legislative behavior, and public policy, with a particular emphasis on European democracies. Key areas include the impact of intra-party dynamics on policy decisions, coalition governance, and the role of parties in shaping political agendas. He leads projects such as the EUINACTION initiative (examining EU policy action in crises) and co-developed the ParlEE dataset analyzing parliamentary discourse across 28 EU legislatures.
Greene has authored over 24 peer-reviewed articles, including works on coalition compromise, Adam Smith's influence in parliamentary discourse, and Scottish independence movements. His research has been recognized with awards, including the British Journal of Politics and International Relations Best Paper Award (2021). He is actively engaged in policy outreach, workshops, and serves as a guest editor for journals.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Comparative Politics from the University of Iowa, a Master's in Political Science, and a Bachelor's in Political Science.
