Zachary A. Nissen is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University, affiliated with the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He serves as a Weinberg College Adviser and focuses on Anthropological Archaeology with a regional emphasis on the Maya of Central America. His research examines urban longevity and inequality through household archaeology at the ancient Maya city of Aventura in Belize. Additionally, he prioritizes inclusive, ethical collaboration with students, scholars, and local communities.

Research Interests
