Z.Z. Lehmberg is a Professor in the Department of English and Modern Languages and Literatures at Northern Michigan University. She holds a Ph.D. in Composition/Linguistics from Wayne State University, an M.A. in Creative Writing from Northern Michigan University, and a B.A. in Business Administration from the same institution. Originally from Guangzhou, China, she began teaching English at age 17 before pursuing higher education in the U.S.
Her research spans composition pedagogy, TESOL methodologies, Chinese literature in translation, and cross-cultural educational exchange. She actively promotes internationalization at NMU, notably securing a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence grant (2008) and organizing the Tibetan/Qiang art exhibition at NMU's Devos Museum (2010).
Lehmberg has published extensively across genres: autobiographical essays (U.S.-China Review), Chinese literature translations (Guangdong Education Publishing House), poetry (Chinese American Forum), and pedagogical research (Technical Communication Quarterly). She regularly presents at major conferences including CCC, TESOL, IWCA, and MWCA, often involving NMU students.
