Yvonne Wasserloos

Yvonne Wasserloos is a full Professor of Musicology at the Mozarteum University's Musicology Department, affiliated with the Mozart:Forum. She holds a Dr.phil. and M.A. from the Universität Münster. Her academic career includes professorships at Rostock University of Music and Drama, Folkwang University of the Arts, and others. She has led research initiatives such as 'Music and Power - Dimension and Context' (AMUM) at Mozarteum since 2023 and previously directed 'Düsseldorf's civic music culture 1818-2018' in Düsseldorf.

• M.A. (1996), Ph.D. (2002) in Musicology from Universität Münster

Research Interests: Her work focuses on music's societal-political contexts, especially under National Socialism, cultural transfers in Northern Europe, and institutional histories. She explores memory culture, political music, and the intersection of music with power structures, including occupation-era Danish music history.

Projects/Awards: Co-founder of the Writings on Political Music History series (2017). Awarded the Düsseldorfer Jonges Prize (2013) for her habilitation thesis. Led initiatives like the 'Welcome to Germany' memorial concert (2013) and the Center for Femme Music at hmt Rostock (2021).

Grants/Teams: Initiated interdisciplinary projects on education and democracy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Founded AMUM research focus at Mozarteum, addressing music's role in power dynamics.
