Yvonne Unna, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Seton Hall University. Her research focuses on Kant's practical philosophy, anthropology, and early modern philosophy, with particular attention to the intersection of philosophy and medicine. She has held positions in both the United States and Germany, with academic affiliations including Boston University (PhD) and the Universität Hamburg (MA).
Her notable works include Vorbereitungen eines Unglücklichen zum freywilligen Tode (2000) and co-translations of Heidegger’s On the Essence of Language (2004) and Logic as the Question Concerning the Essence of Language (2009). Current research explores Kant’s philosophical engagement with medical concepts.
Unna has been recognized with awards such as the Goethe-Institute Translation Grant (2008) and multiple Summer Stipends from Seton Hall’s Research Council. Her scholarly contributions bridge historical philosophy with contemporary ethical discussions, particularly in medical contexts.
