Yvonne Pompana is a Senior Scholar at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Social Work, affiliated with the Inner City Social Work ACCESS Program at the William Norrie Centre. Her scholarship focuses on Indigenous approaches to research and social work practice, with emphasis on decolonization, devolution of social services to First Nations communities, and issues affecting First Nations women.
She holds a PhD in Indigenous Studies from Trent University (2009), a Master of Social Work from the University of Manitoba (1997), and a Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) from the same institution (1988). Her work examines social policy implications for child welfare, justice, and education systems serving First Nations populations.
