Yvonne P. Doderer

Yvonne P. Doderer serves as Professor for GenderMediaDesign at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, Germany. Her work critically examines urban space as a socio-political and gendered construct through interdisciplinary research spanning theoretical, artistic, and cultural domains.

She holds a Doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) with excellence in Political Science from the University of Dortmund's Faculty of Spatial Planning, following her engineering background in Architecture and Urban Planning.

Her research interrogates how contemporary art and media transgress gender regimes, analyzing un/doing gender through spatial practices. This integrates feminist theory with urban studies to challenge physical-social space binaries, emphasizing performative and political dimensions of gendered environments.

Doderer actively contributes to the Women’s Research Network NRW and has held prestigious visiting positions at Paris's Maison de Sciences de l’Homme and Norway's Office for Contemporary Art. Her dual practice as both academic author (publishing in outlets like "springerin" magazine) and exhibiting artist demonstrates rigorous cross-disciplinary engagement across scientific and cultural production spheres.
