Yvonne Krautter

Yvonne Krautter has been a Professor of Geography and its Didactics at the Weingarten University of Education since 2004, focusing on effective geography teaching methodologies. Her academic journey includes completing her teaching qualifications at the University of Bayreuth (1990-1994), state examinations for secondary teaching (1994, 1996), and a Ph.D. in Geography Didactics from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (2002). Professionally, she served as a secondary school teacher (1996-1999) and scientific assistant (1999-2004) before assuming her current professorship.

Her research concentrates on geography education innovation, with key interests including media integration in geography teaching, textbook development, learning research methodologies, early geographical education, human geography (urban studies, tourism), and regional geography (Central/Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa). She actively develops teaching materials and contributes to curriculum design for primary and secondary education.

Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on practical didactic resources, including regional textbooks (South Tyrol, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), curriculum standards for primary/secondary education, and methodological guides for geography teaching. Her work consistently addresses interdisciplinary approaches in social studies education.

Currently supervising bachelor's theses on climate change impacts and sustainable tourism education, she maintains active engagement through webinars and workshops. Her extensive editorial work includes co-editing the 'Geographiedidaktische Forschungen' series and managing the Bibliography for Geography Didactics (2015-2021).
