Dr. Yvonne Ivory is an Associate Professor of German and Comparative Literature at the University of South Carolina, specializing in cultural interactions between German and English-speaking Europeans, focusing on Oscar Wilde's influence, fin-de-siècle decadence, and queer studies. She holds a Ph.D. from UCLA and has taught at Duke University and San Diego State University. Her research explores topics like Wilde’s legacy in German modernism, the early homosexual rights movement, and aestheticism.
Her academic career includes significant editorial work, including co-editing volumes for Oxford University Press’s Complete Works of Oscar Wilde. Her honors include the ACLS Collaborative Research Fellowship (2015–2017), USC Mortarboard Teaching Awards, and multiple grants supporting her research on Wilde and German modernism.
Dr. Ivory has advised numerous graduate students and directed the German Study Abroad Program in Wittenberg. Her teaching spans German language, comparative literature, and interdisciplinary courses on topics like Berlin’s 20th-century history and the European decadent movement. She actively participates in academic service, including leadership roles in the German Program and Comparative Literature at USC.
