Dr. Yvonne Hendrich is a Lecturer for Special Assignments in Portuguese Language Practice, Literature, and Cultural Studies at the Department of Romance Studies, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 2009. She holds a PhD in History from JGU Mainz and Universidade Nova de Lisboa, focusing on 16th-century German-Portuguese cultural exchanges. Her research spans migration studies, Lusophone identity discourses, and historical metafiction in Portuguese literature. She coordinates the innovative 'Português em Prática' project, developing Portuguese language teaching materials and establishing academic training pathways for Portuguese teachers. Notable contributions include co-editing volumes on Lusophone identity and co-authoring works on German-Portuguese historical relations. She received the GLK Teaching Prize (2018/19) and actively coordinates Erasmus exchanges with Brazil.
