Yvonne Giesing

Dr. Yvonne Giesing is a Researcher and Deputy Director at the ifo Center for Migration and Development Economics, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Her work focuses on migration economics, labor market integration, and development economics.

Her research spans political economy of migration, knowledge remittances, conflict-induced displacement, and technological impacts on labor mobility. Recent studies analyze Ukrainian refugee integration, cultural norms in immigration debates, and asylum policy reforms.

Scientific awards include the Alumni Preis for best Bachelor's thesis (FAU, 2009), DAAD and DFG scholarships, and invitations to the Lindau Economics Meeting (2022).

She has conducted field experiments on refugee labor market interventions, advised policymakers on migration regulation, and contributed to EU Horizon 2020 grants. Current projects include evaluating labor mobility programs in Tunisia and reforming EU migration policy.
