Yvette Gibson is a Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture, Veterinary & Rangeland Sciences (AVRS) at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a pioneer in developing online field-based science education, leading the first online Rangeland Science degree program in the U.S. and advocating for best practices in this innovative teaching approach.
- B.S. in Natural Resources (non-traditional student) at Oregon State University
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management at the University of Arizona
Her research focuses on the feasibility of teaching field-based sciences through online modalities and the integration of technology into ecological education. She has also contributed to training initiatives with the Native American Rangeland Training Initiative and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Her prior career spanned 25 years in business, including 10 years in healthcare management and subsequent work at a top consumer product strategy firm.
