Yushun Dong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Florida State University (FSU), leading the Responsible AI (RAI) Lab. He holds a PhD from the University of Virginia (UVA), where he worked under Prof. Jundong Li. His research focuses on achieving responsible AI through advancements in AI security, algorithmic fairness, explainability, and applications in healthcare, disaster resilience, and social science. He has published over 40 papers, including 14 as first-author, and developed open-source libraries like PyGDebias and PyOD.
Key roles include director of the RAI Lab, founder of the Student Seminars @FSU, and active contributor to conferences like NeurIPS, ICLR, and KDD. Notable awards include the 2025 Outstanding Doctoral Student Award (UVA) and the 2025 FYAP Grant (FSU). Collaborative grants include work between CS and Psychology departments at FSU.
His lab's Political-LLM project bridges AI and political science, while PyGDebias addresses fairness in graph learning. Current projects include MLaaS frameworks and AI+Social Science initiatives. He actively recruits PhD students and interns, emphasizing applications in critical AI infrastructure and interdisciplinary innovation.
