Yuriy Hizhnyi

Yuriy Hizhnyi is a Senior Researcher at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine, where he has been working since 2000. He currently leads the research team "Interfaces in heterostructural nanocomposites: theoretical modelling and experimental studies of electronic and optical processes" since 2022.

Dr. Hizhnyi earned his Master's degree in Physics with honors from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1997, followed by postgraduate studies until 2000. He received his Ph.D. in Optics and Laser Physics in 2004 and his Doctor of Science degree in the same field in 2021. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing materials physics through both theoretical and experimental approaches.

His research focuses on theoretical and experimental studies of electronic and optical processes in nanocomposites and scintillation crystals. Dr. Hizhnyi specializes in computational modeling of electronic structures, molecular dynamics simulations of interfaces, and experimental studies of luminescence properties. His work bridges computational physics with experimental materials science, particularly in the areas of bismuth-containing compounds, molybdates, tungstates, and semiconductor materials. His recent publications demonstrate continued innovation in optical monitoring techniques and the development of novel luminescent materials.

Dr. Hizhnyi has secured multiple international research grants, including projects funded by the State Budget of Ukraine, computational grants at supercomputing centers in Poland and China, and collaborative projects with institutions in France and Germany. His research has resulted in over 60 publications with more than 735 citations and an h-index of 16, reflecting significant impact in his field.
