Yuri W. Doolan is Associate Professor of History and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and inaugural chair of Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies at Brandeis University. An award-winning historian, his research examines anti-Asian racism and structural violence within US militarism and empire. He holds a PhD and MA from Northwestern University and a BA from The Ohio State University.
Research Focus: Doolan's scholarship critically engages with transpacific power dynamics through lenses including Critical Adoption Studies, militarized sexual economies, and Korean diaspora experiences. His work intersects ethnic studies, gender theory, and Cold War history to analyze legacies of US imperialism in Asia-Pacific regions.
Awards and Grants: Recognized for scholarly impact, his honors include:
