Yuri Gartstein is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. His research spans theoretical and computational modeling of electronic, optical, transport, and mechanical properties of synthetic materials.
- Education: Ph.D. in Physics (USSR Academy of Sciences, 1988); Engineer in Physics (Tashkent Polytechnic Institute, 1982)
Research Interests focus on carbon nanotubes, organic solids, conjugated polymers, and unconventional superconductors. His work includes modeling exciton dynamics, charge transport in disordered systems, and electromechanical actuation mechanisms.
Recent publications highlight anisotropic deformations in carbon nanotubes, polaron effects in polar media, and negative refraction materials. Collaborations with the UTD NanoTech Institute and Xerox Wilson Center for Research and Technology underscore his interdisciplinary impact.
Professional Appointments include roles at Xerox (1996–2003), University of Rochester (1993–1996), and ongoing consultancy for DARPA projects since 2000. His career bridges academia and industrial R&D in nanotechnology and molecular systems.
