معرفی
Yunzhi Wang is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University, affiliated with the College of Engineering. He specializes in computational and experimental materials science, focusing on phase transformations, structural/functional materials design, and ICME tools development. His research integrates advanced computational methods like phase-field modeling, diffusive molecular dynamics, and STZ theory with experimental validation. He holds numerous awards, including the TMS Fellow Award (2024) and the William Hume-Rothery Award (2024). He has advised over 300 publications and collaborated with major industries and national labs.
Education: B.S. and M.S. in Metallurgy from Northeastern University (China), Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Rutgers University (1995). Professional experience includes roles as Assistant (1996–2002), Associate (2002–2005), and Full Professor (2005–present) at OSU.
Research interests include microstructural evolution in alloys, phase-field modeling, high-temperature superalloys, high entropy alloys, and metallic glasses. His work bridges computational techniques with industrial applications, advancing alloy design principles and deformation mechanisms. He has pioneered methods like phase transition graphs (PTG) and heterogeneously randomized STZ models.
Awards and recognitions include the Cyril Stanley Smith Award (2020), Fraunhofer Bessel Research Award (2012), and NSF CAREER Award (2007). His contributions to ICME have influenced aerospace, automotive, and energy sectors through collaborations with companies like GE, Pratt & Whitney, and software developers.
Advising and grants: His students and postdocs work in industry and national labs. He leads large-scale projects funded by ONR, AFRL, and NSF, emphasizing multiscale modeling and experimental integration.
Labs and teams: Active in computational materials research groups at OSU, collaborating with software companies (e.g., CompuTherm, Thermo_Calc) to develop commercial tools like PanPhaseField.
