University of California , Santa Barbara (UCSB)معرفی
Anton Van der Ven is a Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, affiliated with the Department of Materials. His research focuses on developing first-principles statistical mechanics to predict thermodynamic, kinetic, and mechanical properties of materials, particularly for energy storage (e.g., Li-ion, Na-ion batteries) and aerospace alloys. He leads the development of the CASM software suite for materials modeling.
Research Interests include:
- Chemo-mechanical coupling in materials
- Non-dilute diffusion mechanisms
- Phase stability under non-equilibrium conditions
- Electrochemical behavior of intercalation compounds
Scientific Awards:
- William Hume-Rothery Award (TMS)
- NSF CAREER Award
- Holt Award for Excellence in Teaching
- 1938E Award
Research Collaborations span fields like solid electrolytes, transition metal oxides, and multicomponent crystal physics, with applications in battery technology and nuclear materials. His group has mentored numerous PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
