Yunyi Liao is a part-time Lecturer at Middlesex University (UK), specializing in 'Place Branding and International Diplomacy.' She holds advanced degrees in Media and Communication from Lund University (Sweden) and Newcastle University (UK). Her research focuses on audience engagement with media, particularly in non-Western contexts like China, exploring themes such as slow reality TV, affective responses, and urban-rural lifestyle contrasts. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Digital Culture and Communication section in the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), and previously held roles including Young Scholars Representative in the same section and Doctoral Leader at Loughborough University's Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS).
