Associate Professor Yunxia Zhu is a distinguished academic at the University of Queensland's School of Business, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, where she maintains an active research and teaching profile. With an international reputation in cross-cultural management and business negotiation, she holds adjunct and honorary professorial positions with major Chinese universities, including the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises Research Centre at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
Her research interests span three primary domains: Cross-cultural and International Management, focusing on business relationship patterns across cultures and Chinese management theories based on Confucian wisdom; International Business Communication, applying discourse theory to organizational settings during international restructuring and joint ventures; and Moral Emotions and Business Ethics in Global Contexts, examining ethical guanxi and responsible leadership through classical wisdom from Aristotle and Confucius. Her work bridges universal principles with culture-specific dimensions, particularly in Chinese contexts.
Professor Zhu's recent publications (2020-2025) reveal consistent focus on international business dynamics, cross-cultural communication patterns, and ethical decision-making in global contexts. Her work demonstrates increasing integration of Chinese philosophical perspectives with Western management theory, particularly in examining guanxi networks, internationalization speed, and knowledge transfer in cross-border contexts. She frequently employs mixed-method approaches combining qualitative discourse analysis with quantitative performance metrics.
Her numerous awards highlight exceptional contributions to both research and teaching:
- 2015 UQ Teaching and Learning Fellowship
- 2014 Australian National Teaching Citation Awards
- UQ Vice Chancellor's 2013 Internationalisation award
- UQ 2013 Outstanding Teaching Citation award
