Yunju Im, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Public Health. She joined UNMC in 2022 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University School of Public Health. Her research focuses on Bayesian statistical methods applied to medical imaging and genetic data, particularly in oncology and cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Im holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Iowa (2020), an MS in Statistics from Ewha Womans University (2014), and a dual BS in Statistics and BE in Economics from Ewha Womans University (2012). Her work integrates biostatistical modeling with clinical data to address challenges in cancer outcomes, clonal hematopoiesis (CHIP), and immune checkpoint inhibitor-related cardiotoxicity.
Her research highlights include developing Bayesian models for histopathological imaging-genetic interactions, identifying CHIP as a risk factor for myocarditis in cancer patients, and applying machine learning to cardiac MRI data for early disease detection. These studies span high-impact journals like Statistics in Medicine and Biostatistics.
Dr. Im collaborates across disciplines to advance cardio-oncology and precision medicine, with particular expertise in statistical methodologies for complex biomedical datasets. She currently holds no listed grants or awards but actively publishes in top-tier journals.
