Yunha Hwang is an Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), affiliated with the Department of Biology, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), and the Schwarzman College of Computing. They combine machine learning with experimental approaches to study microbial systems' biochemistry, ecology, and evolution.

Their research focuses on developing machine learning models to discover and design novel microbial functions, leveraging computational methods alongside evolutionary, ecological, and biochemical expertise. The Hwang Lab is located in MIT’s Koch Biology Building and actively recruits new members.
