معرفی
Yun Wei is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. His research focuses on statistical methodology development, including latent variable models, Bayesian statistics, high-dimensional statistics, and reinforcement learning. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (supervised by Alfred Hero and XuanLong Nguyen) and a B.S. from Nankai University. Prior to UTD, he was a postdoctoral researcher at SAMSI and Duke University under Sayan Mukherjee, Hau-tieng Wu, and Eric Laber.
His work bridges theoretical statistics with applications in engineering, healthcare, and environmental systems. Key themes include modeling complex systems under uncertainty, developing scalable algorithms for big data, and applying statistical methods to geotechnical engineering challenges like seismic response analysis of subsea infrastructure. He also explores behavioral health interventions through telehealth and wearable technology, addressing physical activity barriers among aging populations and occupational groups.
Dr. Wei has contributed to 70+ peer-reviewed articles (2020-2025), with recent emphasis on:
- Offshore structure resilience under multi-hazard conditions
- Telehealth interventions for autism spectrum disorder
- Accelerometry-based physical activity analysis
- Psychological well-being in college students during pandemics
His research portfolio reflects interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, computer science, and public health domains.
