Yun Shin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art & Design at Austin Peay State University. She holds an MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, a BFA in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a BFA in Industrial Design from Cho Sun University, South Korea.
Her research interests focus on pattern studies, material exploration, and interdisciplinary art practices. She employs mixed media techniques, including graphite, gouache, and carbon paper, to investigate themes such as cultural identity, memory, and human interaction with objects.
Shin has exhibited widely, including solo shows at the Susan O. Ahem Gallery (Fond Du Lac, WI), A.I.R. Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), and upcoming exhibitions at the Fred Simon Gallery (Omaha, NE). Her work explores patterns and materiality through series like Pattern Study, Pacifiers, and Arrangements.
She received the 2017 Iowa Arts Council Artist Fellowship and has participated in group exhibitions at venues such as Pen and Brush Gallery (Manhattan, NY) and the Des Moines Art Center (IA).
