Dr. Yun Liu is an Associate Professor of Finance at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), part of the Riggs School. She holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Maryland, MA in Economics from Simon Fraser University, and BEcon in Money and Banking from Peking University. Her teaching focuses on corporate finance across modalities, earning awards like the 2020 Riggs Excellence in Teaching Award and 2023 Teaching Innovation Award. She advises the KGI Investment Club and collaborates with Claremont Mckenna College's Financial Economics Institute.
Her research centers on empirical corporate finance, including executive compensation, board diversity, and financial reporting. Notable works include studies on litigation risk's impact on financial readability and venture capital exit strategies. Her research has been featured in top journals like the Journal of Corporate Finance and Quarterly Journal of Finance, earning awards such as the 2016 SFA WRDS Best Paper Award. She currently directs the Team Master’s Project (TMP) capstone program at KGI.
Awards include the 2020 Riggs Excellence in Teaching Award, 2023 Teaching Innovation Award, 2016 SFA WRDS Best Paper Award, and 2020 CFA ARX Best Paper Award. Her work bridges academia and practice, contributing to financial literacy initiatives in local communities.
