Yun Emily Wang is an Assistant Professor of Music and Assistant Professor in the Program of Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Toronto (2018), an M.A. from New York University (2012), and an M.Mus. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (2010). Her research focuses on sound studies, Asian American/Canadian diaspora, and intersectional queer and feminist thought. Her current book project examines everyday listening practices among Chinese-speaking immigrants in Canada, exploring themes like queer diaspora, geriatric care, and gendered intimacy. She also investigates silence, sonic appetite, and experimental music using looping pedals. Awards include the Charles Seeger Prize (2018) and the Society for Queer Asian Studies' Best Article Honorable Mention (2019).

Research Interests: Sound ethnography, queer listening practices, diasporic identity formation, and the political dimensions of sound in multicultural contexts. Current projects include studies on Taiwanese astronaut wives' auditory experiences and sonic registers of desire.
