Dr. Yuming Guo is a Distinguished Professor of Global Environmental Health and Biostatistics at Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, heading the Monash Climate, Air Quality Research (CARE) Unit. He is a Fellow of the Academia Europaea, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Brazilian Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on environmental epidemiology, biostatistics, climate change impacts on health, air pollution, and urban design. Dr. Guo leads large-scale international collaborations and has published over 600 papers in top journals like Nature, The Lancet, and BMJ, with an H-index of 111 and 150,000+ citations.
Key research areas include air pollution’s health effects, climate change adaptation, and environmental health equity. He has secured funding from the NHMRC, Australian Research Council, and Wellcome Trust. Recent projects include studying heatwave resilience, wildfire smoke mortality, and real-time environmental health risk prediction systems.
His awards include the NHMRC Leader Fellowship, Tony McMichael Award, and recognition as a World’s Top Climate Scientist by Reuters. Dr. Guo advises global health initiatives, including Australia’s Climate Change and Human Health Think Tank, and serves on editorial boards of PLoS Medicine and Environmental Health Perspectives.
