Yuli Wang is a Lecturer in the Chinese program at the University of Maryland since 2005, affiliated with the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. She holds a B.A. from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and an M.A. from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Her teaching and research focus on Chinese language, traditional calligraphy/painting, Chinese culture, and traditional musical instruments like guqin and guzheng. She participated in the 2009 Virginia STARTALK Chinese Teacher Academy and presented at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Region Association for Asian Studies conference on calligraphy education in American universities.
Her publications include a 2016 monograph on Kang Youwei’s calligraphy curriculum and articles in Yishujia and Xiandai meishu analyzing modern Chinese artists and art journals. Her artwork has been published by the Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House. Despite no listed awards or grants, her interdisciplinary work bridges language, art history, and cultural studies.
