Yuki Kanayama is a Researcher at the Department of Geography and Environment, London School of Economics (LSE). Prior to joining LSE in 2024, they worked at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in Japan, focusing on infrastructure and transport projects, including regulatory reforms and international railway initiatives in Asia, Australia, the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. They hold a PhD from Waseda University (2022–2024), alongside a Master’s (2020) and Bachelor’s (2018) in Economics, specializing in environmental and urban economics.
Research Interests:
- Empirical studies on urban and housing issues, particularly the impact of empty homes on housing prices and affordability.
- Policy analysis of taxation and housing supply.
- Built environment dynamics and land ownership challenges.
- Transport infrastructure development and international cooperation.
